03/28/2009 - Van Nuys Building reached half way point

March 2009 – West Coast Drywall and Paint was awarded a multi million dollar contract last August to assist in the renovation of the Van Nuys Building located in the Historical District of downtown Los Angeles. The project had recently successfully reached the half way point and is on target for completion in August of 2009. The Van Nuys Building is over 100 years old and is one of the landmarks of the famed Historical District of downtown Los Angeles. Originally built for the use of business offices, the building was converted to 300 apartment units in the 70’s. It is now slated as section 8 government assisted housing and is an important property to the city government as the Mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa  has visited the site on occasion to check on it’s progress. This project possesses some interesting dynamics in that it challenges all of the trades that West Coast is capable of managing. They include historical preservation, interior and exterior painting, drywall, ACT ceilings, stucco, demolition, scaffolding, fire caulking, wood refinishing, window installation and waterproofing.
